Rose Colored Recommendations

I'm putting poor Carrie out of her misery, if she wanders over to this blog from the other, and will recommend the following to folks of literary persuasion:

One of the many things that my parents discovered they shared in common, when they met and fell immediately and deeply in love, was an appreciation of literature. My parents are voracious Readers, they come from Readers and they spawned Readers. One of the many, many authors they both love was and is Don Marquis, who wrote many fine things... but the most famous and perhaps the best were his recountings of the many adventures and ponderings of Archy and Mehitabel.

If you love wit and rough philosophy, you will visit your local library or Abe Books and get hold of one of Marquis' books... and render yourself toujours gai.

I did finally figure it out - and without cheating. Much. Google didn't help me though.

Fun guessing game though! Thanks, Eileen!
